With the “Date/Time” media object of FrontFace digital signage and kiosk software, you can integrate the current date and/or time into your screen content.
In addition to displaying the current date or time as a digital or analog clock, this media object can also display a countdown or ‘egg timer’. You can also use the Date/Time media object to create a world time clock!
A countdown has a fixed target time in the future at which it counts down. This can be used to highlight an upcoming event, such as a company outing or anniversary.
The timer is set for a specific amount of time and then counts down to zero. The timer starts again from the beginning each time the page with the “Date/Time” media object is displayed on the screen. This can be used, for example, to show the viewer how much longer the content will be displayed. This function also provides an optional visualization in the form of a progress bar.
The date/time format can be customized using a “format string”. A special syntax is used to define how the date/time data is displayed on the screen. You can use either predefined standard formats for date and time, or completely custom format strings. For more details on formats, see our manual and the Microsoft help pages.
In addition to a digital time display, you can also display an analog clock with animated clock hands. You can use either the minimalist built-in clock face or your own PNG image as a custom clock face.
To simulate a world clock, you can define a custom hour offset (+/-) based on your current time zone. This allows you to create world clocks that display the time in different cities. Insert multiple Date/Time media objects on a page to create a classic world clock, for example, for your company’s locations around the world.
