When it comes to self-service terminals, sooner or later there will be a need to capture user input (with forms). Whether it is customer satisfaction surveys, reservations/bookings, or business process data collection (repair orders, purchase orders, etc.), there is always an input mask provided on the terminal that the user must complete on the device.
As the requirements for such forms vary widely, as does the question of what to do with the data collected, a web-based input screen displayed in a browser is the technology of choice.
Since FrontFace has an integrated browser engine based on Chromium, such forms can be easily integrated into playlists and touch menus. And thanks to FrontFace’s on-screen keyboard, text can be easily entered on systems without a physical keyboard.
In addition to the ability to program a web form yourself, Microsoft Forms, which is included in Office 365, provides an easy way to create your own web forms for data collection. To do this, simply create a form in Microsoft Forms with the “Anyone can respond” option enabled. This will generate a “secret” URL that you can then integrate into FrontFace using the Web Page Media object. With touch menus, the on-screen keyboard is usually also enabled, so no further adjustments are required.
The visual design of the form can also be customized directly in Microsoft Forms.
The collected data can then be analyzed online in Microsoft Forms or exported as an Excel spreadsheet.
For use on a public kiosk terminal, we recommend that you enable the “Customize thank you message” setting and disable the “Hide send another response” and “Allow respondents to save their answers” settings.
