Interactive touchscreen interfaces and kiosk terminal content can be problematic, or even unusable, for people with physical disabilities.
Therefore, ensuring barrier-free access to information systems is becoming increasingly important. Since summer 2025, the EU has required certain entities, such as public administrations, to provide accessible kiosks and digital signage systems. Similar laws apply in the US, too. To help you meet these requirements and improve access to your information systems for people with disabilities, the latest version of FrontFace includes the necessary functions!
Accessibility features with FrontFace:
- Voice output (text-to-speech)
- Menu navigation supported by voice output
- Visual customization options, such as the size and position of controls, colors, and contrast
- Support for alternative media (e.g., videos with subtitles or sign language)
- Support for special hardware, such as external buttons and keyboards
The major advantage lies in how FrontFace implements the accessibility concept: Similar to its multilingual support, you can create separate versions of your Touch Menu for people with disabilities. This even allows you to address specific disabilities individually!
Nevertheless, the regular Touch Menu will remain unchanged for people without disabilities. You can easily switch between the accessible and conventional versions. This allows you to tailor the content to the needs of your users and avoid unnecessary work and complexity. There are no changes for users without disabilities.
